About Whitney

Author & Chief Joy Officer

I am a dual American-French citizen, author and communications professional living in Paris. I was born and raised in Texas and then moved to California to pursue a French degree at UCLA, starting a decade-long stay in California. I began my career as a technology consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers in San Francisco (because they had an office in France… which seemed like a good enough reason at the time).

I quickly realized I liked technology but wanted to spend my time talking about it, rather than building it, so I transitioned into public relations. I worked for Applied Communications and Bite Communications in San Francisco, both high tech PR agencies, at the height of the technology boom and during the lean years following the technology bust. I represented clients including HP, Sun Microsystems, Cisco, Oracle and many more in enterprise technology.

I moved to Seattle, Washington in 2005 and began working in PR for Microsoft’s Online Services Division. After three years there which included managing the US launch of Bing, I fulfilled my dream to get to France by landing the job as Executive Communications Director for Microsoft International.

I've been in Paris since late 2009, doing several global and regional communications roles at Microsoft spanning crisis comms, media relations, owned platforms, internal communications, integrated marketing, executive communications and speechwriting.

In July 2022, I started a mini-career sabbatical to seek joy and get my first novel published. It is called "Will There Be Wine?" and was published in January 2023. I had so much fun doing it that a sequel entitled "Will There Be Love?" is currently in the works, coming in 2025.
