The “mother wound.” What is that and how do we heal it?
My guest Amy Dresner shares honestly about her own mother hunger as she continues to heal around sex, love and dating in recovery.
Come along with us as we talk about what this wound looks and feels like, about how our relationships mirror these issues, and how we can face reality and let go of fantasy.

In This Episode:
[0:55} Amy’s take on the “mother wound.”
[4:25] How do we begin to heal this?
[8:17] “He’s a mirror for your issues” Well, yeah!
[10:30] You didn’t get what you didn’t get as a result you are still chasing it. And Amy’s BRILLIANT confession about her friendships with women.
[12:53] We are making the unconscious, conscious and so this is how we begin the work.
[14:30] But maybe if I just hold on I’ll get what I want…. OH GAWD, have we all been there or what?
[16:04] ANOTHER REALLY REALLY AMAZING MOMENT FOR AMY! She twisted herself into a pretzel, and the guy still didn’t stay! And while we know that sucks, seeing it is the path to healing it.
[17:10] Is it about “balls” or is it about faith? (I’ll go with faith).
[17:34] Amy reveals that while she thought spending time alone would heal her, she’s the same person 3 years in. Time does not heal all wounds it turns out.
[18:40] Whatever happened, happened, so what we can get is perspective, a new way of telling our story, and as we begin to practice self-soothing we can make new choices and stop repeating the past. This is what the work will get you.
